Quotes refreshed daily from Wise's public comparisons API plus our own provider monitors. “Rate margin” is the difference between the provider's offered rate and the mid-market rate — the lower, the better.

How money-transfer companies actually make money — the hidden margin explained

Most providers advertise “no fees” or “low fees”. The trick is that they make their margin on the exchange rate itself, not the headline fee. The mid-market (or interbank) rate is what banks use to trade with each other — anything below that mid-market rate is the provider's hidden margin.

That's why our table sorts by recipient amount. It's the only number that captures both the visible fee and the invisible exchange-rate margin in one go.

Best rate tracker

Which provider had the best AUD → USD rate each day for the last 30 days. Updated daily — track who's consistently competitive.

Each point shows the recipient amount you'd receive if you'd sent the calculator's current AUD amount with that provider, using their recorded rate that day.
